What's Going on in That Meier House?

I know it has been too long since I have blogged, but it seems we have been busier than the busiest lately! Where to start? Well, we are now a party of five in our house. Grammie and Paw Paw closed last Wednesday and have officially moved in with us. We are still trying to get organized and cleaned up from last minute construction messes.

Evan has had two doctors appointments in the last couple of weeks. The first was the genetics doctor(s). Our visit was good. We didn't learn much more than we already knew, but we did learn what we need to do to start testing. We ended up not making any firm decision just yet because it is going to cost a little less the $4,000. Wish we had that in our pocket right now, but with this years roller coaster of life, we don't. The tests are nothing that have to be done right away, however. What they will basically tell us is where the mutated gene originates (in Tony or I) or if it was a spontaneous occurrence.

We also met our new ENT since Dr. Valdez is no longer with Texas Children's. Dr. Larrier will now be seeing over Evan and his progress. She was very good at explaining things to us and what was best about our visit was when she told us that she really thought Evan would NOT need surgery. We were extremely shocked to hear that since no one else had ever mentioned that as an option. Now, this is not a guarantee, but from what she sees, she thinks his seeping fistula will heal on its own. How awesome is that? She wants to see us again in six months and then she will make sure that no cysts have formed under his fistulas. (They will do this with a CT scan of his neck.) If all is well, no surgery will be needed. I just love that statement! :)

As far as growth, Evan is having no problems whatsoever. He weighs in at 21 pounds and Mommy is having a hard time keeping up with clothes for him. His everyday clothes are 12 months, but his pj's are 18 months! My Mother said Joel was the same way, so I am guessing that is where he gets it from. He has six teeth and is ready for a steak! Crawling is soon on our agenda and baby proofing has begun. It's hard to believe he will be eight months old in two weeks!
